We believe transparency is foundational to trust. Here is exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
Last updated: April 2025
Human Unity collects only what is necessary to connect you with the network and send you relevant updates. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to profile you politically. We are a community-building organization, not a data business.
Human Unity is a community organizing framework operating at humanunity.us. When this policy refers to "Human Unity," "we," "us," or "our," it means the Human Unity project and its organizers. Questions about this policy can be directed to hello@humanunity.us.
We collect information in two ways: what you give us directly, and what is collected automatically when you use the site.
Email address
When you sign up via any form on the site. Used to send you network updates, chapter connections, and coordination information. Stored in Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
Name and location
When you fill out the skills contribution form or chapter registration form. Used to match you with the right chapter or initiative in your area. Not shared publicly.
Skills and background
When you describe your skills or project ideas in our forms. Used solely to match you with relevant opportunities in the network. Not shared with third parties.
Like all websites, our hosting provider (GitHub Pages) may log basic technical information including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or behavioral analytics tools. We do not use Google Analytics or similar services.
We use the information we collect to:
Connect you with local chapters and initiatives in your area
Send network updates, coordination information, and project news
Match volunteers and organizers with relevant opportunities
Respond to your questions and requests
Improve the website and the network's ability to serve participants
We do not use your information for political targeting, advertising, fundraising solicitation, or any purpose unrelated to connecting you with the Human Unity network.
We do not sell your personal information. Ever. We share limited information only in these circumstances:
Mailchimp
Our email platform. Your email address and name are stored there to send you communications. Mailchimp's privacy policy applies to their handling of this data. You can review it at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.
Local chapter organizers
If you request connection to a local chapter, your name and contact information may be shared with that chapter's lead organizer so they can reach out. This only happens with your explicit request.
Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process. We will notify you if this occurs unless legally prohibited from doing so.
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Unsubscribe — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Use it at any time.
Access — you can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Deletion — you can request that we delete your personal information from our records.
Correction — you can request that we correct inaccurate information we hold about you.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@humanunity.us. We will respond within 30 days.
This website does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. The site may use minimal session-based browser storage (localStorage) to remember form state within a single visit. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
The Human Unity website is served over HTTPS, encrypting data in transit. Email data is stored with Mailchimp, which maintains industry-standard security practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Human Unity is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at hello@humanunity.us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this privacy policy as the network grows and our practices evolve. When we make significant changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and notify email subscribers. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

The plain truth
We collect your email to connect you with people building something real. That's it. We are not a data company. We are not funded by advertisers. Your information serves you, not us.
